I went natural with my hair in October 2010. For me that was a BIG deal! I was so addicted to getting crack cream in my hair to keep up my short pixie cut that it didn’t matter to me how many hours I would sit in the salon. When I went natural, I did the big chop. I had no idea if I even had the head shape for baldness.

Suddenly, I missed my hair stylist messing with my hair and creating hair creations. It was at that time I really embraced “going natural.” I immediately — like so many of you — became a YouTube enthusiast to determine my hair type, curl pattern, products, styles, do’s and don’ts — you name it. I never knew there was such a big community – and I’m super thankful for it! Now, I have a love affair with my hair: I’ve learned to take care of it and to pay attention to what works best.
Being a Beauty Brand Ambassador for Ricky’s NYC has several perks, including trying and reviewing products. I recently got a box of filled with several goodies. One of the first items I noticed was a Dark and Lovely product. I was a little upset at first that I wouldn’t be able to use one of the items in my box until I read the bottle.
Ladies, this product smells awww-mazing! It has mango oil and bamboo milk. I immediately wanted to wash my hair and put it to the test, but first I had to do some research. Not only did this product get great reviews but the reviews also suggested the Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Sheen Sealing Nectar, which I purchased.
I did a bantu knot style with these products, and I loved it! The products are lightweight and the curl definition was by far one of the nicest ones I’ve achieved in a while.
I’d love to hear what products some of you are using. If you have a product that you’d like for me to try and review or if you have a question, please send me a beauty note at rj@renardajoynyc.com.
Before I forget, remember a few weeks ago when I asked for your support to help me become a curator for Quarterly Co?
Well, we did it!
I’m officially a beauty curator! I’ll help you create your beauty arsenal with my favorite make-up, beauty products, and things that will rev up your beauty engine! To all my international beauties: great news, my box ships worldwide. My first box will ship in March.
As a special thank-you for being one of the first to sign up, subscribe by Feb 6th to be entered to get a “golden ticket” box at https://quarterly.co/products/rj.
Until next time, stay beautiful!

Got this product sleeping somewhere in my cupboard. I'll try it some time soon. I'm more of a DIY but still try things out. Thanks Yefon Mainsah for sharing.
What's the point of going natural when one is still worried about elongation?
Love this!
