#Girlpower! Ludacris brings an empowering animated series inspired by daughter to Netflix

Karma’s World, an animated musical kids show by Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, has just received a series order at Netflix. The series’ target audience is children aged six to nine so here is another one for the young ones and coming from Ludacris, we anticipate great times on our screens.

Inspired by his older daughter, Karma, the 40 11-minute episodes of the series centers around a young Black girl finding her voice and using it to effect changes in her world.

Now more than ever, our children need to learn how to use their voice to avoid systemic racism and oppression in today’s world and this green light to Karma’s World could not be timelier. This series is produced by 9 Story Media Group and Karma’s World Entertainment, which already has an educational and interactive website bringing good content to children.

“It has been an absolute privilege to work with Chris to bring his vision of Karma to life. Karma is a character who does not yet exist on kids’ TV. She is a powerful, empowering role model who uses her words and music to change her community,” Angela Santomero, Chief Creative Officer for 9 Story Media Group, said about the new series.

10-year-old Karma Grant, the star girl of the show, is a young girl with dreams and goes after them as we all should. At a tender age, Karma knows what she wants, as a talented aspiring musical artiste and rapper with a heart of gold. Karma is smart, resilient, and deeply empathetic.

Karma’s voice and quirky personality are heard through her songwriting as she channels her emotions through rhymes. At the beginning of the series, Karma is seen coming to terms with the emotional power her music can have and realizes it’s not enough to share it with the world, so she is determined to change the world with it.

“I’ve had a lot of accomplishments in my life, but everything that I’ve experienced seems to have led up to this point to where I can leave a legacy for all my daughters. ‘Karma’s World’ is one of those legacies,” said Bridges in a statement.

“I hope this series will show kids that there are many ways to overcome difficult situations. This show is going to move hip hop culture forward and show young girls that they have the power to change the world. This project has been a long time in the making and I can’t wait to bring Karma’s World to the entire world.”

According to Deadline, the entire series will feature original songs supervised by Ludacris himself that will address issues of self-esteem, discrimination, body positivity, how to express one’s emotions, celebrating each other’s differences and creativity.
