‘I have more to offer’ – John Boyega says he has moved on from ‘Star Wars’ franchise

It looks like John Boyega has moved past reprising his role as Finn in the popular Star Wars movie franchise.

The British-Nigerian actor, who has played the role three times, made the revelation when he was responding to a fan’s comment on Instagram after posting a photo to announce he’s back on set.

The fan commented: “Force Finn in action with Green lightsaber dressed in black is all I want from the next SW film!” Boyega, 28, however, responded and said: “Lol no thank you. I’ve moved on [heart emoji].”

Another user also chimed in and commented: “Really just got those Disney bucks and dipped [laugh crying emoji],” to which the Pacific Rim: Uprising actor said, “Nope. Not into playing one role for too long. I have more to offer than that. That’s all.”

Though the actor did not comment any further on the topic, fans still went back and forth on the possible reasons for his decision to play no further role in the film series. The actor, who played Moses in 2011 movie Attack the Block, however, responded in the affirmative to a fan who asked him if he was open to reprising his breakout role in the highly successful movie.

“I haven’t played Moses in over a decade. I’d love to revisit him. Now he is a BADASS,” he responded.

Outside acting, Boyega, whose parents are Nigerian, was a very vocal participant in the recent Black Lives Matter protests in the UK that was spurred after the death of George Floyd in the United States. In June, the actor delivered an emotional speech in London during a protest, saying he did not care about the repercussions his participation would have on his career.

“Look, I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this but f**k that!,” he said, Face2Face Africa reports.

He continued: “We are a physical representation of our support for George Floyd. We are a physical representation of our support for Sandra Bland. We are a physical representation of our support for Trayvon Martin. We are a physical representation of our support for Stephen Lawrence [killed in the UK in 1993].”

“I need you to understand how painful this sh*t is. I need you to understand how painful it is to be reminded every day that your race means nothing and that isn’t the case anymore, that was never the case anymore,” he said.
