In Africa, most women are found wanting when they want to pee in public facilities.
If you are not one that carries disinfectant wipes or hand sanitizer, then you are left to choose between a Urinary Tract Infection or holding in your pee till you get home.
The worst incidence is when on a road trip, the women must hold on to their urine till a public rest stop, which is not guaranteed to be hygienic for their use, while the men can easily pee in any nearby bush because its convenient for them to do so.
An entrepreneur in Kenya has made a new product that can help women pee with ease in public toilets and on road trips.
Francis Mwangi Kimani is the founder of Dada Dada Kenya, a gadget that aids women to pee without much hustle or stress when caught in any of the above-mentioned circumstances.
It is meant to help women urinate in comfort.
Kimani said, “Dada Dada is a line of hygiene products our lead product is the disposable female urination funnel that is aimed at helping women pee in comfort because in our country most of the public toilets are not very clean and this will help women from contracting Urinary Tract Infections (UTI), from dirty toilets or holding your urine for long.”
After completing his studies on Media Science at Moi University, Kimani worked in the marketing industry. It was at the point when he became unemployed that he decided to come up with ways to earn some income for himself.
“I have always been interested with anything to do with hygiene, so I started researching and this is where I landed,” he said.
To protect the environment, Kimani decided to produce Disposable Female Urination Funnels instead of the rubber type that are already available.
“I decided to go with disposable female urination funnels because of hygiene in such kind of places like public toilets getting a sanitizer and water is another thing.
“I researched for a whole year and finally came up with a design. The funnel is made from paper, which is one hundred percent biodegradable, and is locally made,” he explained.
According to Nairobi News, Kimani gave samples of Dada Dada Kenya to his mother and female friends to try in a bid to get feedback on the product.
The feedback was great, and he noted the products are selling fast on the market. “This is the go-to pack for women especially if planning to go on road trips or going out clubbing or any outdoor event, you just Susu bila stress,” he added.
