Poem: Waiting for You

As I earnestly wait in anticipation of that day when she’ll be unveiled, I continue in my journey, hoping that one day we’ll cross paths and I’ll recognize that virtue, patience, love, humility, and passion that I’ve always desired. But until then…I’ll wait for you.

I can’t really explain it, if asked, can’t really defend it…
And at this point I can’t really control it…
Can’t tell if it’s blind or a product of conscious choice…
But for now all I know is that my hand fit yours…
As you walk down the aisle, covered in your veil of purity…
In the midst of many witnesses, I await you heartily…
Remembering how long you’ve stayed by my side…
You never left me even at times when things were hard…
When the chips were down our future seemed hopeless…
Still you believed in my dreams and had faith in my prospects…
Sometimes I tested you beyond limits, believing you’ll lose your temper…
But no, you stayed calm and calculated, handled it like a Mother…
At this point your age matters less…
All I see is a processed vessel in a white dress…
Even though I know I’m not the best…
But I pride in this reality that only a prince can marry a princess…
You always have a plan, tackling issues optimistically and confidently….
Through seasoned utterances you express your feelings respectfully and patiently…
With the spirit of truth dwelling inside you, you excel in character and virtue…
And as you reap the fruits of your labor, you stay faithful and humble…
A seed of Abraham you are, with God’s kind of faith…
Meticulous, focused, and timely, you never come late…
Handle people’s businesses like it’s yours…
With a gentle spirit you command respect; you don’t force…
You teach the young and respect the old, the hungry you feed…
A philanthropist you are, who freely lends to anyone in need…
Never encouraged frivolous spending even when you were the beneficiary,
You inspired me to invest…
Always calm and never in a hurry,
But concerning things pertaining to service of the kingdom, relentless…
And as the priest asked, will you take this lovely lady as your bride…
The dynamism exerted in my vocal expression as I said, Yes, I do, I could not hide…
The joy comes from knowing that in all things, we’ll stay together…
And we’ll overcome knowing I have a Father and Father-in-law ‘cus you’re his daughter…
Who has said before I was born that when I find you, I’ve found a good thing…
Because he has predestined you, qualified you, justified you, and washed away your sin…

To You Who married my dad…
To You who married and stayed with that great man…
To you who’ll marry these young ideal men…
And to you who’ll marry me…
As I’m being processed in the deep sleep of purpose…
The bone of my bone;
Yes, I’ll wait for you.
