Christene Browne
Christene Browne was born in Saint Kitts and Nevis on October 18, 1965. She moved to Canada in 1970 along with her family. She drew inspiration from the low-income neighborhood she was being raised in called Regent Park. Successively, Browne joined the Regent Park Video workshop and produced a few short films. She attended film school. In 1990, she formed her own production company, Syncopated Productions. Her film “Another Planet” granted her the title of the first Black woman in Canada to direct and write a dramatic feature film.
In 2013, Browne wrote her first novel, Two Women. She’s also worked as a curator and media arts instructor.
