Gamal Nasser – 1958 Chevrolet and 1961 Cadillac Fleetwood series 75
In the Arab community, Gamal Nasser is one of the most talked about Presidents to have existed. The second president of Egypt is famous for leading the 1952 overthrow of the Egyptian Monarchy and later becoming president in 1958. Nasser was a lover of cars and his favourites were his 1958 Chevrolet and his 1961 Cadillac Fleetwood series 75 which he drove constantly.
To mark his birthday, his 1958 Chevrolet which was previously in very bad shape has since been renovated by the Ministry of Water and is now on display at the Aswan Dam Museum. His 1961 Cadillac Fleetwood series 75 is now the personal property of one Ahmed Mahrous who purchased the car after an auction.
