Yuri da Cunha
Named “The Show Man” due to his mesmerizing dance and energy on stage, his first album, It’s All Love, was released in 1999 and subsequently won the Top Radio Luanda in 2004 for the song “Makumba.” His style of music is rooted in the rhythms of Angola, such as Semba, Kuduro, Kazukuta and Kizomba. He received global acclaim in 2014 when he released the song “Atchu Tchutcha”, which had more than 11 million views on YouTube and became the song of the year in Angola and South Africa.
In June 2014 Yuri became the first Angolan singer to win the African “best duet” at the MTV awards with his single “Atchu Tchutcha”. He is much loved by many and his showmanship always gets people on their feet no matter their ages.
