Set to be released in theatres next year, the build-up and anticipation to the sequel of one of the most popular African-American movies of all time, ‘Coming to America’, keeps going on the high as little details surrounding the cast and plot are revealed.
As previously reported, the sequel is going to be filled with a smorgasbord of some of the world’s favourite black actors and celebrities in the cast. Possibly joining the newcomers, as well as, those reprising their various roles, is Nigerian afrobeats superstar Davido.
Taking to his Twitter page, comedian Michael Blackson revealed the Fall crooner has a performance scene in the highly-anticipated movie.
“Davido told me he has a performance scene in the movie #ComingToAmerica2 congrats homie,” he shared.
Gearing up for the release of his new album, Davido has had a stellar 2019 so far with his brand and music deservedly going global. Just recently, he teamed up with multi-platinum selling and Grammy award-winning R&B superstar Chris Brown for his new single Blow My Mind.
He also performed alongside 50 Cent at the Madison Square Garden last month – something he described as a dream come true.
As people impatiently wait for the sequel to the movie, things already seem to be taking shape as exclusive photos of some of the cast and crew on set were leaked last month.
Reprising his role as Prince Akeem, Eddie Murphy was spotted wearing a royal costume and holding what looked like a script.
Arsenio Hall, who also played Semmi, Morris, Extremely Ugly Girl and Reverend Brown in part one, was also spotted completely transformed into the Rev. Brown character, Metro reports.
Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones and Tracy Morgan, who are part of the star-studded cast which reportedly includes South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha, James Earl Jones, Paul Bates, Wesley Snipes, KiKi Layne, Jermaine Fowler, Rick Ross, among others, were also spotted on set.
In the first instalment of the movie, Akeem (Eddie Murphy) leaves the Kingdom of Zamunda to America, where he seeks a wife. He is accompanied by his aide Semmi (Arsenio Hall).
In the second instalment, Akeem has just found out that he left a son in America and travels back in search of the next heir of the Kingdom of Zamunda.
