Theresa A. Doby attained two dreams at once by completing two postgraduate degrees from respected universities, Walden University and McCormick Theological Seminary, in six years, resulting in a unique double doctorate feat.

The Chicagoan triumphed over financial difficulties, such as not always being able to afford the high expense of college. She worked summer jobs and frequently relied on only one daily meal from the subway to pay for her education.

Black News reports that Dobby graduated from two different graduation ceremonies with two different doctoral robes embroidered with three stripes: one from Walden University with a Doctor of Healthcare Administration (DHA) and the other from McCormick Theological Seminary with a Doctor of Ministry (DMin).

She also completed two dissertations, one for each course, and defended her work six times before two separate panels of professionals in their respective fields.

Expressing her gratitude, she said, “I would be remiss if I fail to acknowledge those who extended their arms to support me when I was in my lowest moments. I’d like to thank my family for their unwavering support, as well as my friends for their regular reassurances. Special thanks to everyone who was there for me when I was driving through the roughest roads in my life. Finally, I’d like to thank God Almighty himself for his love and protection throughout my voyage.”
