Forest Whitaker is an American actor, director and producer born in Texas. He is known for his research and intensive study work on some of his movies such as Bird, The Crying Game, Platoon, Ghost Dog, The Butler and Arrival. Born in 1961, Whitaker has cemented himself in Hollywood’s hall of fame.
The award-winning actor branched into producing and directing in the 1990s with his directorial debut in a grim film about inner-city gun violence, Strapped, for HBO in 1993. Since then, Forest has flourished directing some of the most successful Hollywood movies.
The movie, The Last King of Scotland, bagged him loads of accolades after its release in 2006. At the 10th Annual Hollywood Film Festival, he was presented with the “Hollywood Actor of the Year Award,” which described him as “one of Hollywood’s most accomplished actors.”
He was honoured at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival 2007, where he received the American Riviera Award and won the 2007 Academy Award in 2007 for Actor in a leading role, 2003 Emmy Award for Outstanding Made for Television Movie and a Golden Globe Award in 2007 for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.
