5 popular artists who have associated their brands with cannabis but keep soaring higher

Cannabis refers to a group of plants with some psychoactive properties knowns as cannabis sativa, cannabis indica and cannabis ruderalis. When the flowers are harvested and dried, you are left with a common herb.

The use of cannabis or weed has become extremely controversial as calls for its legalization across the globe has caused genuine outrage from people who oppose it. Weed is also known as marijuana or pot.

People smoke or eat it for its effects on the body – to some it causes euphoria, relaxation and enhanced sensory perception. However, its recreational use is illegal in most parts of the world.

Meanwhile, 11 states across the U.S. have legalised marijuana and only Lesotho and Zimbabwe have done so partly in Africa.

Various category of people use cannabis for several reasons; athletes, musicians, dancers, medical practitioners and politicians are also known to use weed.

Global icons like Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh among others openly used cannabis despite the negativity surrounding it. These legendary artists have campaigned for the legalization of marijuana decades ago in songs and speeches.

Peter Tosh recorded his 1976 song Legalize It in response to his ongoing victimization by the Jamaican police and as a political piece pushing for the legalization of cannabis, particularly for medical use.

The misconceptions and myth about cannabis are still pressing despite the progress being made to educate people about the positive qualities.
