Africa is highly regarded not just for the richness of its mineral resources but also the sheer generosity and hospitality of Africans. A 2015 index on global giving by the Charities Aid Foundation aimed at driving home the need for philanthropy and global aid lists the African countries with the best performance in regards to hospitality and philanthropy. The aim of this index is to track how rates of giving change year by year and to stimulate debate about why rates of giving differ between nations and how we can encourage more people to give, in whatever way they can, to help others and strengthen society.
