April 20

April 20, 1894 – Dr. Lloyd A. Hall, a pioneering food Chemist was born.

 April 20, 1908 – Lionel Leo Hampton, American jazz musician, bandleader, performer, and multi-instrumentalist, was born.

April 20, 1951 – Luther Ronzoni Vandross, American soul, and pop singer, songwriter, and producer was born.

 On April 20, 1965 – Lester Maddox, the future 75th Governor of Georgia, was acquitted of all charges by an all-white jury, after he threatened three young Black students at gunpoint for entering his racially-segregated Atlanta restaurant.
