Doug Williams
Williams became the first quarterback to win a Super Bowl and Super Bowl MVP on January 31, 1988, in San Diego California.
Williams scored four out of Washington Redskins’ five touchdowns in an upset 42-10 over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXII, according to History.com.
“You know, when you look back on it, they would almost tell you, ‘You kinda old,'” Williams told ABC7’s, Robert Burton.
Aware of the deliberate ploy to refuse African American opportunities at the position he made history playing, Williams said: “I had to look at it from a different perspective,” he said. “And that was ‘I’m the quarterback of the Washington Redskins who just happened to be black.’ And the most important thing is to try to find a way to win the game.”
