Protect your space
Always lock your front door whether at home, in the office, or in a hotel. Don’t forget your car doors as terror attacks often involve carjacking during an attempted escape, says Wendy Patrick, a behavioural expert, with a speciality in threat assessment.
In the home, she recommends identifying safe rooms, meeting spots, and emergency supplies. “…Make your home as uninviting of a target as possible,” she says.
“As a business owner, you can think about the physical characteristics and perimeter security of your buildings. Make sure that unauthorized persons cannot enter or get close to the buildings. Review your fire safety procedures. Assess plans for emergency evacuations”, another expert, Hans Brun, recommends.
