Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka and her boyfriend Cordae recently welcomed their newborn baby daughter in Los Angeles. And though the name of their bundle of joy wasn’t disclosed in the wake of the reports, Osaka’s boyfriend, rapper Cordae, did the honors during his performance at Canada’s Calgary Stampede over the weekend, per PEOPLE.

“My daughter Shai was just born a couple days ago, so I dedicate this performance to my baby girl Shai,” he told the audience during his performance. “Love you, I’m going back home.”

In January, the Haitian-Japanese tennis star disclosed she was pregnant with her first child. Her announcement came days after she withdrew from the Australian Open, Face2Face Africa reported at the time. The 25-year-old posted a picture of a baby scan on social media to announce her pregnancy.

“Can’t wait to get back on the court but here’s a little life update for 2023,” she wrote. “The past few years have been interesting to say the least, but I find that its the most challenging times in life that may be the most fun. These few months away from the sport has really given me a new love and appreciation for the game I’ve dedicated my life to.

“I realize that life is so short and I don’t take any moment for granted, everyday is a new blessing and adventure. I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future, one thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch my matches and tell someone, ‘that’s my mom’.”

Osaka, 25, later announced the baby’s gender in June, though she said she was already aware she was expecting a baby girl. “I’ve been preparing, but he [Cordae] doesn’t know the gender yet, only I know,” she told PEOPLE. “So it’s not like I can build out the room or anything.”

The four-time Grand Slam champion also shared some details on the names they were thinking about earlier this year. “We have been discussing names. I would say that we are going for something more unique than traditional,” she said at the time.
