Besides being a very talented and versatile rapper, Joyner Lucas is also a great actor.
Gearing up for the Friday release of his debut album, ADHD, the Massachusetts rapper released a music video for one of the singles off the project.
Titled Will, Joyner pays homage to legendary rapper and his idol, Will Smith, by impersonating characters he portrayed in some of his famous movies and projects including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Bad Boys, Men in Black, Pursuit of Happyness, Wild Wild West, Alladin, among others.
Getting to the end of the video, the rapper, who is wearing a red hoodie, can be seen seated looking at a mirror. He is transformed back to Will Smith when the reflection is shown.
The video ends with an appreciation post by the rapper. “Thank you for helping me build my wall,” it reads.
The four-minute video has been viewed over three million times on YouTube.
The Fresh Prince, who got wind of the impressively creative video, couldn’t help but share his amazement. Taking to his Instagram page on Wednesday, Smith, 51, shared a snippet of the video and said he was “humbled.”
“That joint is crazy. Dude I am humbled and honored,” he said in the next video slide.
“One of the lines you say in there, ‘You inspire people and you don’t even know it.’ It has been my intention from day one to really go into the world and just put positive energy and to be able to use my creation to inspire and elevate and empower. And I just love what you’ve done — it’s creative.”
He also said he hopes to meet him one day. Responding to Smith, Lucas shared a post saying he wanted to “take a cold shower and wake up. I’m dreaming right now.”
