The passion to venture into the craft of interior design has been the lifelong dream of four-time Grammy award winner, Lenny Kravitz, since childhood. As a child, he wanted to understand why his room was designed in a particular fashion, a notion that always enthralled his imagination.

Another event that crystallized this passion was the launch of his first album in 1989, when he had little funds and could not afford furniture for his room. He relied on discarded furnishings to bring color to his room, and created his own style out of what he picked in the alleyways. For Kravitz, that was where the interest to commercialize his passion for interior design began.

What makes his story intriguing and unique is his lack of any kind of professional training in interior design. He trained himself, observing the creativity and designs of great artists around him. He admired the works of Paul Evans, Gabriella Crespi, Joe Colombo, and Pierre Jeanerette, drawing inspiration from their artistic learnings.

He finds fulfillment in creating works of art that can be shared with the world, to him, Art has a universal language that brings people of diverse backgrounds together.

Kravitz’s approach to designing dwells on his ability to picture how objects will perfectly sit in the setting he is working in. He cites a case where his house in Paris needed a table to match a semi-circular sofa; a high rug and pillows laid out on the floor, which required a lot of thoughtfulness. This is how Lenny has always gone about his work to satisfy his clientele, according to Elle décor.

Kravitz shot into fame with his hit song, “It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over,” in 1991. However, he made his debut entry into the music scene in the 80s with his “Let Love Rule” album. Music critics made fun of his mix, which comprised rock, soul, rhythm, and blues. He however became a household name with his song “Mr. Cab Driver,” which caught up with many music lovers.

Born on May 26, 1964, in Brooklyn, to Ukrainian TV producer, Sy, and African American actress, Roxie Roker, Kravitz was initiated into music when his parents took him to concerts that featured top acts like Duke Ellington, Jackson Brown, and the Jackson Five, who later became his role models.

He learned how to play various musical instruments at the age of 12 and was actively involved in the activities of the California Boys Choir. He was resolute in the belief that music was the career path for him. However, his father was not happy he didn’t make it to college after he completed high school and decided to give his all to music.

In 1989, his work with Madonna shot him into the spotlight, placing his song at number one on the US Billboard charts, and in 1993, his album, “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” won him many Grammy nominations and trophies, DW TV reported.

According to celebrity net worth, Lenny’s net worth is estimated at $90 million. Despite his wealth, he felt the need to pursue his childhood interior design dream, and established Kravitz Design in 2003. He currently designs for a number of clients including Queen Latifah’s production company, Flavor Unit, Sony Pictures, and Swarovski.
