Lucenda Starke spent a decade mentoring aspiring business owners right after university. Her career at the Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands put her in a unique position where she had regular interaction with young people who wanted to create their own paths.

Having guided many young people toward realizing their entrepreneurial dreams, she is now turning attention to herself. Driven by passion, Starke is now an author, NFT artist, poet, lyricist and entrepreneur. She founded a clothing line known as WordEdge.

The inspiration to start WordEdge was her love for designing clothing. At WordEdge, she and her team create unique T-shirts with a variety of quotes that range from being humorous to inspiring, she said.

She has also authored a poetry collection — Pathways in Stardust — available on Amazon. Actually, Starke has been writing poetry and song lyrics since she was a teenager. What is more, as a talented lyricist, she also writes and creates music for fellow artists.

The poet and lyricist is also the author of a book on Amazon titled What to Do to Grow Waist Length Hair As a Black Woman. She wrote the book after noticing that many Black women find it difficult to grow and love their natural hair. The book is to let Black women know that no matter their hair texture, they can benefit from growth that is healthy and strong by customizing to their hair type. Topics covered in the book include protective styling, Black hair products, tips for various hair types, and so on.

Despite focusing on herself in order to build her business empire, Starke remains committed to helping aspiring entrepreneurs in the Netherlands through mentorship and knowledge sharing, she told Black News. She is currently writing her next book titled Becoming the Boss. Starke expressed the hope that the book will help guide aspiring entrepreneurs to achieve their dreams.
