NFL wide receiver and former Trinity High School star Rondale Moore passed away on Saturday in southern Indiana at the age of 25.
Per WHAS11, Moore was pronounced dead around 6 p.m. after he was taken to Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany. New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey said that they suspect Moore suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound, adding that he was found in a garage.
In 2016, Moore helped New Albany High School win the state basketball championship. The following year, the Indiana native won a state football title with Trinity High School in Louisville after he transferred to the educational institution.
Moore enrolled at Purdue and played for the university’s football team. The deceased 25-year-old played for NFL teams including the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons.

“Rondale Moore was a complete joy to coach. The ultimate competitor who wouldn’t back down from any challenge. Rondale had a work ethic unmatched by anyone. A great teammate that would come through in any situation,” Louisville coach Jeff Brohm said in a statement.
“We all loved Rondale; we loved his smile and his competitive edge that always wanted to please everyone he came in contact with. We offer all our thoughts and prayers to Rondale and his family. We love him very much.”
In the aftermath of Moore’s death, his former teammate, Hollywood Brown, took to X to disclose that they spoke hours before he passed away.
“Bro ain’t no way brotha you just messaged me few hours ago,” the Kansas City Chiefs star posted alongside a teary-eyed emoji.
Purdue football’s Instagram account also shared a statement after Moore’s death.
“The Purdue Football family is deeply saddened by the news of Rondale Moore’s tragic passing. An All-American with an infectious smile, Rondale was a joy on and off the field. Someone who left this world too soon, Rondale will be remembered as a legendary Boilermaker,” Purdue football said.
