As the year comes to an end, Christmas festivities and a general celebratory ambiance will be the center of December across the world and it will be no different in Ghana. The West African country will be thriving in the spirit of “detty” December.

Since 2019, the country has been known to host all returnees and people from the diaspora in December. Apart from tourist sites, visitors anticipate seeing during their visits several concerts. Most people from the diaspora tailor their visit to the country around the concert dates. In anticipation of this year’s events, here are five concerts everyone is looking forward to.

1. Wizkid Live in Ghana

The starboy will have his debut concert in Ghana on December 10 at the Accra sports stadium. The 40,000-seat stadium will see Nigeria’s biggest Afrobeats sensation pull off another great concert after his concert in New York early this year. Top of the expectation list of fans is a performance of his latest album “More Love, Less Ego” as it would be his first time performing the album in Africa.

2. Kizz Daniel Live in Concert Accra

The Buga sensation returns to Accra on December 23 to keep fans all jammed up this festive period with an epic performance. He expressed his excitement to local media stating that he could not wait to be back in Ghana. Lined up to perform at the concert are Herman Suede, Gyakie, Kidi and Camidoh all from Ghana. This is a concert you do not want to miss.

3. Afrochella

With five years of giving patrons back-to-back entertainment, Afrochella comes off again this year with more entertainment for patrons to look forward to. The likes of Boris Cudjoe and Jidenna have all been patrons of the event. This year, Afrochella brings out the African Giant, Burnaboy, to perform. The two-day festival will run from December 28 to 29 at the El-Wak Sports Stadium. The Afro-culture-themed event allows patrons to share culture; vendors come around to showcase their products and the night is crowned with the performance. It is a concert to look out for.

4. AfroNation

Afronation joins the abonten (outside) celebrations from December 29 to 30. The massive lineup this year promises patrons the best of performances from global musicians. Headliners include Meek Mill, Davido, Psquare, Stonebwoy, Rema, Asake and many others. The two-day festival promises to deliver better than previous years.

5. Bhim Concert

Stonebwoys Bhim Concert comes off on December 23 at the Grand Arena. Patrons should expect a Caribbean, Jamaican and Ghanaian cultural mix connecting everyone to their roots through music.

While this list isn’t exhaustible, these remain the top anticipated concerts for this year’s detty December in Ghana and everyone is anticipating them. The country remains one of the hotspots for December fun and celebrations including tourism as it continues to promote its “beyond the return” campaign to pull Black people to their roots.
