Tracy Nicole Harper runs and heads Through Her Eyes Trucking Company LLC, a Black-owned company with offices in Houston, Texas.
She acquired her CDL license to drive commercial trucks around 11 years ago, despite being a victim of domestic violence and an ex-offender, and is now on a mission to assist other underprivileged women in doing the same.
The 38-year-old entrepreneur has established a scholarship program through her foundation to provide cash prizes totaling $4,350 to three separate women with a passion for driving trucks, and who have also struggled with domestic violence, drug abuse, human trafficking, and/or ex-offender status.
“I recognize the immense potential and strength of women who have overcome significant obstacles in their lives, My scholarship program aims to enable these women to pursue their dreams in the trucking industry and create a brighter future for themselves and their families,” Tracy said.
For consideration, female applicants must be at least 21 years old, residents of the United States, and holders of valid driver’s licenses.
Additionally, candidates must have two letters of recommendation, have gone through trauma associated with the aforementioned difficulties, be clear of any outstanding legal issues, possess an acceptance letter from a respectable trucking school of their choice, and be able to show proof of enrollment in the form of a tuition fee receipt.
Candidates must also submit a 2-page essay outlining their background, personal struggles, reasons for deserving the prize, and plans of how the scholarship will benefit society in return.

The application process is currently underway and will end at 4 p.m. on October 1, 2023.
The personal stories, dedication to the trucking business, and the likelihood of success of each applicant will be taken into consideration by a selection committee made up of officials from the Through Her Eyes Foundation.
The date, time, and method of choosing the scholarship winners will be made public during a live drawing that will take place during the second week of December, and the money will be distributed directly to the approved trucking school of each recipient’s choice during the final week of December.
The company has a vision to become the best woman trucking company in the United States.
“Every year I will fund a scholarship that will send 3 women to Truck Driving school who are overcoming Domestic Violence, Drug Abuse, Human Trafficking, and Ex-Offenders to obtain their CDL. Which includes paying to enable them to attend an accredited trucking school; paying for all tests and permits,” Tracy said
