NBA star Anthony Edwards has been handed a $50,000 fine for “directing inappropriate language and making an obscene gesture toward a fan” on Saturday during the Minnesota Timberwolves’ win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
During the third quarter of the game, Edwards was sitting at the scorer’s table after a timeout and heard a fan shouting at his teammate Rudy Gobert.
Moving into Gobert’s defense, the NBA star screamed back that Gobert had “$200 million”, slamming it back in the face of the fan when Gobert held up three fingers.

“He got $300 million!” Edwards said.
If the short altercation had ended there, Edwards wouldn’t have been facing a fine. However, Anthony Edwards went on to make a lewd remark and grabbed his groin.
The exchange was caught on video and quickly went viral across all social media platforms.
Now, Edwards is reportedly facing a $380,000 fine from the NBA this season for distinct infractions which include cursing in interviews after games and some unacceptable gestures toward officials.
In the NBA this season, Edwards also led in the most technical fouls and was suspended one game when he picked up his 16th technical.
Anthony Edwards nearly received a suspension a second time when he was given his 18th, but the league rescinded that foul.
On social media, some fans have expressed displeasure with his actions knowing he’s got a track record of off-court issues surrounding the trajectory of his career.
Only weeks ago, Edwards’ ex-girlfriend Ayesha Howard denied claims on social media indicating the NBA star paid all his child support in one transaction reportedly worth over $1 million.
He’s got himself into the public domain again, and it appears surfacing in public conversations is an attribute that will be staying with him for a long time.
