A Michigan judge was left stunned when Corey Harris, a 44-year-old man who was charged with driving with a suspended license, appeared for a courtroom Zoom call on May 15 while driving a car.

Harris’ act of being seen behind the wheel prompted a shocked reaction from Washtenaw County Judge J. Cedric Simpson, according to the New York Post.

“Mr. Harris, are you driving?” Simpson asks, according to footage posted by mlive.com.

“I’m pulling into my doctor’s office actually,” Harris says.

After he parks, Simpson calls him out for blatantly breaking the law.

“So maybe I don’t understand something. This is a driving with a suspended license [case],” Simpson says to Harris’s lawyer. “And he was just driving. And he didn’t have a license.”

Harris’s attorney attempts to explain that those are merely “the charges,” but Simpson retorts, “No, I’m looking at his record. He doesn’t have a license.”

“I don’t even know why he would do that,” Simpson says before revoking Harris’s bond and sentencing him to jail time.

“Defendant is turning himself into Washington County Jail by 6 p.m. today,” Simpson declares, as Harris’s face drops.

“Oh my God,” Harris says.

His next hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 5.
