Isan Elba, daughter of Idris Elba and Hanne Nørgaard, has eagerly absorbed advice from her movie star father following her decision to walk in his footsteps.

The 22-year-old recently revealed the most valuable guidance Idris has given her in pursuing an acting career.

“I know it’s so cliche,” Isan told E! News at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on October 15, “but being yourself. But also being very intentional. Do everything with intention because you leave a legacy and come from legacy.”

Isan, 2019’s Golden Globes Ambassador, appreciates her father Idris’ advice but still experiences typical daughterly embarrassment.

When Idris appeared in a Calvin Klein ad in New York City this February, Isan humorously reacted by making a TikTok of herself “screaming” in horror at the images of the former Sexiest Man Alive.

“I was like, ‘Oh, it’s funny,’” Isan told E!. “I was laughing about it with my friends. But I erased it from my memory now.”

Despite the jokes, Idris values his bond with his children deeply.

The “Beast” actor, who also has a 10-year-old son, Winston, with ex-girlfriend Naiyana Garth, explained that he values his relationship with his kids.

“They’re a part of me,” Elba told People in 2017. “They are the reason I get up and do it. When it’s a hard day and I think about bringing them up, I go, ‘Thank you for existing so I have a purpose.’”
