Tony Rock is undoubtedly a very talented comedian and actor. But the 50-year-old is hardly seen in movies involving his older brother Chris Rock.
Tony touched on that matter when fellow comedian Aries Spears asked him why that was the case during a recent appearance on the Green Room. The All of Us star said that not featuring in movies alongside his brother was disappointing.
“I am going to try to explain to you guys. I am not saying it is going to make sense,” Tony said, adding that his brother is a “businessman when it comes to his movies and TV stuff.”

The 50-year-old also mentioned Death at a Funeral – the movie in which Chris and Martin Lawrence were cast as brothers – and explained that his brother preferred to have a bigger co-star because of marketing reasons.
Tony said that though he did not have any issues with that, his brother not casting him in Top 5 left him feeling messed up. He said he and Chris were not talking a lot at the time, but his brother told him he was going to put him in that movie.
“I did not ask for anything,” Tony said, explaining that he has asked his brother for “five favors” his “whole life.” “He said ‘no’ every time and I swore on everything I loved that I would never ask him for anything as long as I lived,” Tony continued.
He said that though he tried to do his “due diligence” after his brother told him he was casting him in the movie, Chris told him not to worry about that. “Summertime in New York, imma be in New York for the summer. Imma be home shooting a movie with my brother for the summer. I’m beyond excited, it don’t get no better than this,” Tony recalled.
Tony also said that though he was on tour at a certain point, he had still planned to put things on hold and go shoot the movie once his brother called him. But he said that did not happen as the movie was filmed without him.
“Two months in, I get a f**king phone call that says ‘Yo, you at the wrap party? We here.’ That sh*t crushed me. I have never seen the movie Top 5,” Tony revealed.
Tony’s comments come after he publicly supported his brother in 2022 when Will Smith slapped him at the Oscars for making a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.
“If you think you’re gonna walk up on this stage, this ain’t the motherf**king Oscars,” Tony said at the time, per Page Six. “And if you walk your a** up here, you ain’t nominated for shit but these motherfu**king hands! Oh, we going to pop the rest of the year, ni**a. Every time you see me do a show, pop!”
“I didn’t want to start the show like that,” the 50-year-old continued. “You gonna hit my motherf**king brother because your bi**h gave you a side-eye? Oh, it’s a lot of Rock brothers, y’all ain’t know, it’s a lot of Rock brothers.”
