Police have revealed that a mother named Tameeka ‘La’Von’ Hall was killed with her daughter at a red light in California by her estranged ex-boyfriend.
45-year-old Hall and her 22-year-old daughter Ma’Laysia ‘Lay Lay’ Martin were allegedly shot by the mother’s 41-year-old estranged boyfriend Donte Lamont Brown on Tuesday in Compton.
Around 7.05 pm, deputies with the Compton Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Caldwell Street and South Central Avenue.
Cops discovered the mother and her daughter suffering from gunshot wounds that led to their deaths, as per the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators say Donte remains on the run and believe he ‘drove up alongside the victims in their vehicle while it was stopped at the signal light,’ before allegedly opening fire on his ex-girlfriend and her daughter.
According to reports, Tameeka then exited the driver’s side of the vehicle before falling to the ground while the driverless car traveled across the street and smashed into a traffic signal pole with Ma’Laysia inside.
Both mother and daughter were pronounced dead at the scene after Hall was discovered lying on the ground while her daughter was found in the passenger’s seat, being unresponsive.
Cops say Donte fled the scene after and has not been seen or heard from since the incident.
He is known to frequently visit both Compton and Long Beach. Police also say Hall’s estranged boyfriend is ‘considered to be armed and dangerous‘, further stating that ‘detectives have exhausted all leads’ and now need the public to cooperate in bringing in the suspect.
For now, it remains unclear why Donte killed the mother and daughter and how long they were together.

Tameeka’s brother, Uron created a GoFundMe page, and another family member, Habeeb Rasheed, shared heartwarming photos of the late mother and daughter.
Habeeb revealed that when he was told Hall and Martin had been ‘gunned down,’ he had ‘hoped’ it would be about ‘a small family reunion,’ yet instead, he received news he didn’t see coming.
‘It’s pretty hard to believe that this is happening and I am here writing this. I am here with my Nephew Uron Hall her brother helping with funeral arrangements and the logistics of picking up remains,’ he continued.
He called Donte a ‘coward’ who ‘took a shining star’ from his family.
‘I am dealing with the shock and rage that one has when it’s their own family. These were beautiful Black Queens even though the story of their end was horrible,’ he added.
For many years, Tameeka worked at a school district while Ma’Laysia was a ‘brilliant young artist,’ he added.
More than $2,800 was raised to support the grieving family as of Sunday afternoon, and a funeral service has been scheduled for the dead mother and daughter on April 24, as per the donation page.
A woman at the scene named Debbie Shaw, was seen consoling someone who knew the victims and told ABC 7 she lost her brother only years before around the same corner.

‘I can’t imagine the pain they were going through at the time. Just to come out here to see a mother and a daughter – that’s really heartbreaking,’ she said.
Compton City Councilman Johnathan Bowers also left his thoughts on the tragedy to the outlet, saying: ‘It’s just very tragic for our community. We don’t like to hear anything like that. We don’t want that sort of thing to happen in anyone’s community.’
