(L-R) Kanye West and Candace Owens

It was a pandemonium on social media over the weekend after a black conservative activist, Candace Owens, slammed Black Lives Matter and African American protesters as being “whiners” and projecting the “victim mentality” instead of “victor mentality”.

“Victim mentality is not cool. I don’t know why people like being oppressed. The weirdest thing I’ve ever heard; We’re oppressed! Four-hundred years of slavery! Jim Crow!’ By the way, none of you guys lived through that.

“Your grandparents did and it’s embarrassing that you utilize their history. You come in here with more emotions than they ever had when they were living through it. You’re not living through anything right now,” said the communications director for conservative youth organisation Turning Point USA at an event at the University of California which was stormed by Black Lives Matter protesters.

This generated a lot of backlash and even more after rapper Kanye West tweeted: “I love the way Candace Owens thinks.”

“In about 10 seconds [after Kanye’s tweet] I became the KKK member, anti-LGBT, you name it. Just because I think differently and I refuse to accept this narrative that I’m a victim. I’m not a victim,” Owens told Fox & Friends on Sunday.

She also tweeted: “I’m freaking out. @kanyewest ….please take a meeting with me. I tell every single person that everything that I have been inspired to do, was written in your music. I am my own biggest fan, because you made it okay. I need you to help wake up the black community.”

But the question is, is she making a good point? Tell us what you think in the comment section as you watch her reaction as well as people’s comments below.
