African musicians have over the years, gradually and consistently built a formidable, enviable, colorful, captivating, and infectious music space that has established Africa as a continent of diverse, distinct music genres and music talents.

From different exclusive genres like High life, Afrobeats, Fuji, Amapiano, Kwaito, Kizomba, Soukovs, and Taarab to popular general genres like Pop, Rap, Rock, Metal, Funk, R&B, Roots and Blues, African musicians are amplifying the output in the industry globally and taking the world by storm.

Africa has produced some of the best icons in the music industry who have broken down many unfavorable barriers like racism and geographical limitations to reach the pinnacle of their carrier. Legends like Fela Kuti, Miriam Makeba, Brenda Fassie, Angelique Kidjo, Hugh Masekela, Youssou N’dour, and 2Face Idibia, are some of the great talents who have placed Africa on the world music map and told the true African story through their works.

While the old legends have slowed down and are enjoying the yields from their years of hard work, young and multi-talented acts are emerging regularly and creating more interesting genres, and bringing unimaginable modifications to the existing genres. To keep you informed of some of the many developments in the African music industry, here are some of the young talented voices in Africa that may clinch some of the prestigious music awards in the world.
