White women were just as ‘evil’ as the men
Women are often thought to be gentle, kind and compassionate, but these female enslavers were the opposite. Just as their men, they brutalized their enslaved workers – they whipped them, separated enslaved women from their babies, fed enslaved children spoiled food, among other dehumanizing punishments. It is generally reported that some of these white women would later force enslaved mothers to breastfeed their white children so that they could develop better and survive the early months of childhood.
