Durban Country Club
The 100-year-old Durban Country Club Golf Course is among South Africa’s leading golf courses. It prides itself as the only golf course in Africa rated in the Top 100 Golf Courses in the world by Golf Magzine USA, in the Top 5 Courses in South Africa by Gold Digest S.A, and in many other rating institutions. The unique features of the golf course are the breathtaking undulations on its fairways, especially noticeable on the 3rd, 5th, 8th, and 17th holes. The Links type layout and the coastal sand dunes make the course an interesting and challenging ground for professional and amateur golfers. The magnificent golf course overlooking the Blue Lagoon estuary and the Indian Ocean has hosted legendary players like Jack Nicklaus, Sam Snead, Sally Little, and many others. It has hosted 17 South African Opens in total, more than any other golf course in the country. Established in December 1922, the premier golf course is home to some of the country’s great sportsmen and women, including Neil Tovey (soccer), Shaun Pollock (cricket), John Smit (rugby), and others.
