Taban Lo Liyong

Taban Lo Liyong, born in 1939, is one of Africa’s influenced and well-known poets and writers. He had strong political views on the colonial system in East Africa and was also outspoken on issues relating to the post-colonial system of education in East Africa. He attended Howard University and took part in the University of Iowa Writers Workshop where he was the first African graduate in 1968. He was born in South Sudan.
