Doctors, who were first unsure about her prospects, are now amazed by her progress. Brinley Stevenson’s astonishing recovery only weeks after a vehicle accident that shook her family to the core and left doctors unclear whether she would ever be able to move again has given others hope.
Some days before Thanksgiving, the 7-year-old and her mother, Tina Stevenson, were involved in a serious T-bone accident near their home in Douglasville.
Even after suffering injuries herself, Tina has stayed steadfast in her commitment to her daughter’s recovery.
“It’s so emotional. “She’s here, and that’s what matters most,” Tina told 11Alive.
Despite the depressing situation, Brinley’s fierce determination turned despair into confidence.
A heartwarming video that the family posted showed Brinley’s first steps since the accident, which left her mother speechless.
Tina said, “I just stood there and cried. Then I laughed and cheered. My baby is alive, and she’s moving!”
Tina sees her daughter’s resilience as a true miracle. As she put it, “You hear about Christmas miracles, and this is the greatest miracle a mom could ever ask for.”
As she recovers at Children’s Scottish Rite Hospital, Brinley’s bravery and drive have inspired both her family and the medical team. The doctors believe she will be released in time for her family to celebrate Christmas at home, which is a much-anticipated moment.
The Stevensons appreciate each step forward, despite the fact that the path ahead is still challenging.
“She’s a fighter. She’s blowing everyone away,” Tina declared with pride.
As Brinley prepares to come home, her loved ones are rejoicing in the amazing progress she has already made and looking forward to better days.
