Today is the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims commemorated on the third Sunday in November every year to acknowledge the millions of victims of road traffic crashes and their families.
According to the UN, the day has become an “important tool in global efforts to reduce road casualties.”
“It offers an opportunity for drawing attention to the scale of emotional and economic devastation caused by road crashes and for giving recognition to the suffering of road crash victims and the work of support and rescue services,” it said.
As events are being held across the world to mark the Day, here are 8 black Americans who have died in some of the most tragic road accidents.
