Nigeria is the most populous country on the continent. But Nigeria’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, earns 8,000 times more in a day than the poor Nigerians can spend on basic needs in a year.

Indeed, the country’s budget of 2017 was not enough to reach the combined wealth of Nigeria’s five richest people.

Over 110 million Nigerians live in poverty despite rapid macroeconomic growth over the last decade.
