The continent is home to several unique and unconventional buildings, and the Upside Down House adds to that list.

Located in Hartbeespoort, which is north of Johannesburg, the building, as the name suggests, has its roofing on the ground and its foundation rather in the air.

Designed to create a gravity-defying experience, the furniture and kitchen appliances in the building also remarkably hang from its ceiling.

“The birth of the inspirational idea of this ingenious ‘house’ became real by the reflection of a peculiar presence, which in the existing world might sometimes feel upside down,” the building’s website explains.

A unique and magnificent work of art thanks to ingenious engineering, the building is also the perfect spot for photo-ops for visitors.

Take a look at photos of the jaw-dropping building below and be sure to add it to your travel bucket list!
