There is much to be said about the contemporary African music landscape across the diaspora, especially with the creation of new fusions and styles like AfroRnB, Afroswing Afrosoul, and Afrohouse.
Now that these genres/subgenres are receiving attention, this Mother’s Day, it would only be appropriate to pay homage to 3, of the many, female African legends who have paved the way for the talented artists of today to break boundaries, fuse genres, control their own musical career paths, and remain true to their cultural roots.
