A White woman who went viral on social media last month after she was filmed trying to block a Black boy from using a community pool has been charged with child assault, the mother of the minor revealed.

The video of the incident, which was filmed by a bystander, was shared on TikTok by the boy’s mother, Heather J Brown, on July 6, the Daily Mail reported. And in the video, Brown, who is in the company of her two sons while also carrying a baby, can be seen having an argument with the White woman who appears to be preventing them from accessing the pool. The woman is seen standing in front of the entrance while Brown and her children are outside.

During the back and forth, Brown is heard trying to tell the White woman she was at the pool the previous day and claims the accused woman even knows who she is. The White woman responds by asking Brown why her phone is not working.

But as Brown’s son opens the gate and tries entering the pool, the White woman is seen trying to block him, and things escalate from there. “Don’t you put your hands on my son!” Brown is heard yelling at the White woman as she hands the baby she’s carrying to her older son. “Don’t you ever, ever put your hands on my son.”

Brown is then heard telling the White woman she’s going to call the police to report her for putting her hands on her son. “Get out of my face, lady! And she’s going to jail because she just put her hands on my son,” Brown is later heard saying.

Weeks after the incident, Brown shared an update saying the White woman has been charged with “misdemeanor assault on charge on a child under 12.” She added they went to court on July 30 and the accused White woman requested a public defender. Brown said their next court date is August 20.

Brown also said she was unaware someone was filming the altercation. But the White woman claimed she had attacked her when the police officer arrived at the scene, and the officer initially started to believe the accused woman “based on the way” they looked. The video footage of the confrontation, however, ended up vindicating Brown.

Brown also revealed the woman who filmed the video actually took it because “there’s been issues where people on the HOA (Home Owners Association) pool committee…that single out children who aren’t white.” “It just is what it is. Because this day, she let two white boys in in front of my kids but told my kids they had to wait outside,” she added.

But after the video went viral and the White woman was charged, she said the woman as well as other members of the Home Owners Association have been harassing her landlord and spreading lies about her and her children. She, however, said she’s not perturbed and wants the woman prosecuted.

“I don’t care if my children are the devils themselves,” she said. “You don’t have the right to put your hands on nobody, let alone a child.”

The mother also explained she decided to call the police because the White woman would have likely done the same – and probably worse – if she had put her hands on her “like she wanted me to.”
