In a recent episode of Julian Shapiro-Barnum’s Celebrity Substitute series, A$AP Rocky expertly dodged a student’s question about his marital status. The popular web show features public school children interviewing celebrities, which often results in unexpectedly candid or amusing moments.
During the episode, a curious child asked the 37-year-old rapper if he was married to Rihanna.
The question visibly surprised the artist, resulting in a noticeable hesitation and a carefully worded deflection as he chose not to directly address the personal inquiry on air.
Responding to the student’s question, Rocky commented, “That’s an interesting question that you asked,” and then playfully suggested the child might prefer the “Diamonds” singer to take his place instead.

“You want Rihanna, huh?” Rocky said. “Well, you got me. You got me today.”
Rakim Mayers, aka A$AP Rocky, and Rihanna confirmed their relationship in November 2020. They are parents to three children: sons RZA Athelston, three and a half, and Riot Rose, two, and daughter Rocki Irish, five months old.
The couple welcomed their youngest child, Rocki, last September.
On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this month, Rocky recounted his initial encounter with Rihanna, 37. He detailed the moment they first crossed paths years ago outside a New York City nightclub. He mentioned that at the time of the meeting, he “wasn’t famous.”
“She was obviously Rihanna. And I couldn’t get in! The bouncers didn’t want to let me in,” Rocky recounted. “I was with my friend, the late, great Virgil Abloh, and Matthew Williams, and we kinda was getting into it with the bouncers, and she came out, and we locked eyes right away. I was just like, in a daze.”
Following the January 16 release of his fourth album, Don’t Be Dumb, Rocky has been actively celebrating its success. Rihanna publicly showed her support for the work on social media when it reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.
Rocky released his 17-track fourth album, Don’t Be Dumb, after a 2,793-day wait. The record explores various genres like punk, trap, and indie, and features artists such as Tyler, The Creator and Doechii, plus filmmaker Tim Burton.
“Just me here to let yall know my baby daddy got the NUMBER 1 ALBUM!!! Aaahhhhhh hah! DONT BE DUMB!!!,” Rihanna wrote in a post on X.

The “Punk Rocky” rapper emphasized the importance of Rihanna’s support, telling People at the 2025 Gotham Awards that it “means everything” to him.
“Family support is just… spousal support, everything,” he said. “It just means a lot. It goes a long way.”
Despite their repeated denials, fans have long speculated that Rocky and Rihanna are married. Last September, Rocky provided a subtle clue that heightened the excitement. When asked by Elle magazine if he was looking forward to becoming a husband, he responded, “How (do) you know I’m not already a husband? … I’m still not gonna confirm it.”
In an interview with The Perfect Magazine two months later, Rocky sparked widespread speculation when he described himself as a “loving husband.”
Providing a glimpse into his private life, he stated, “Being a father and a partner and a loving husband in my family is what makes me really, really happy.”
