An American Airlines passenger who allegedly believed he was followed by evil spirits has been arrested for throwing punches at flight attendants.
The outburst was so bizarre that one passenger deemed it the “the most disturbing thing I’ve ever seen.”
In a video obtained by CBS Miami, Delange Augustin was seen yelling and wildly throwing his arms and kicking his legs at the front of the plane as other passengers aboard jumped in to stop him.
According to passenger Rob Rosenberg, after the passengers got onto him and kept him on the floor, Augustin swallowed a rosary from his sister, who was also on board.
He then reportedly began to chant some kind of creepy hymns which left many startled with what they were witnessing on the plane.
“That was a very, very, very disturbing scene. I’ve seen a lot of stuff in my life, but that was probably the most disturbing thing I’ve ever seen.”
The entire incident ended with the American Airlines passenger in handcuffs, and it unfolded moments after the wheels left the ground in Savannah, Ga.
Reports indicate that when Augustin started shaking wildly and yelling, the plane hit some turbulence, leaving those on board to believe he was having a seizure.
Passenger Rosenberg revealed it particularly began getting to him when Augustin started to yell about demons.
“He started stomping his feet violently, like heavily and screaming — it was kind of a chant,” he told CBS Miami. “He was talking about devils and possession. You have to kind of see it to believe it sort of thing.”
According to an affidavit, the American Airlines passenger with ‘evil spirits’ kicked a flight attendant so hard in the chest they flew across the aisle of the plane and crashed into a window after the attendant opted to check up on him.
Right after the violent kick, the pilot chose to take a Miami-bound plane back around to Savannah as the safest option.
“He was being so violent, you were like, this is not normal, he doesn’t care anymore,” said Rosenberg.
Rosenberg added that Augustin also “destroyed” the seat in front of him by punching and kicking it as they flew back.
Once the plane arrived in Savannah, Augustin quickly charged the plane’s front doors and just began swinging. Following him was his sister, who was also on board.
Rosenberg and his friend jumped in to help take Augustin down. Once on the ground, he latched onto his sister’s hair bun and pants, refusing to let go, even as police arrived.
“They tased him once, twice, three times. He still wouldn’t let go,” Rosenberg said. “In the end, they had to cut her hair to free her.”
Augustin also swallowed a rosary, which his sister later told police was because the beads were “a weapon of strength in spiritual warfare.”
After both were detained, his sister told cops they were headed to Haiti to “flee religious attacks of a spiritual nature,” according to the affidavit.
While on the flight, Augustin told his sister to close her eyes and pray, claiming that “Satan’s disciples” had followed them onto the plane and that “the legion didn’t want them to make it to Haiti.”
There were only about eight passengers on board at the time, and thankfully, no one was seriously hurt, police said.

Augustin, who had to be hospitalized after swallowing the rosary beads, was later booked into jail on multiple charges, including misdemeanor battery and criminal property damage.
