The Red Pyramid/North Pyramid

At the Dashur Necropolis, the Red Pyramid is the largest of three pyramids. It is the third-largest pyramid on the whole built in ancient Egypt and is considered to be ancient Egypt’s first successful attempt at building a true smooth-sided pyramid. Its building marked the successful transition from step pyramids to smooth-sided pyramids. It was built for Khufu’s father Sneferu.

Although dubbed the Red pyramid because of the rusty reddish hue of its limestone, it didn’t always have this hue. Its total height is 105 meters with a total volume of 1,694,000 cubic meters (59,823,045 cu ft).
