For a long time, Black people, especially those in America, have complained about the media’s portrayal of them as as violent, wild, over sexual and uneducated. But with social media giving everyone a platform to share their unique stories and perspectives, people are taking the issue into their own hands, changing perceptions about the group one post at a time.
Twitter’s hashtag #BlackExcellence is one such example.
During the graduation months of May and June, countless people have taken to social media to share their stories of overcoming considerable odds to achieve their education related goals.
