In an unconventional and touching gesture, Shacole Fox, from Cincinnati, Ohio, chose her 79-year-old landlord, Gil Pulliam, to walk her down the aisle at her wedding last month.
This decision diverged from the typical choice of a father, close relative, or friend, a fact Fox acknowledged to CBS News, saying, “Right? I wouldn’t have thought in a million years.”
Fox, a makeup artist, rents a studio in Cincinnati from Pulliam, a man known for his no-nonsense demeanor. Despite his stern exterior, Pulliam also possesses a deeply tender heart.
Fox, who had never known her father, initially believed she wouldn’t miss what she never had. However, as her wedding day drew near, she began to feel a significant void.

“When I thought about who would walk me down the aisle, trying to figure out what that looks like, the thought of it was like…surprisingly painful,” she said, full of emotion.
Her landlord knew about her family situation and asked if he could walk her down the aisle.
“So I went back up to ask Shacole if I could escort her down the aisle,” Pulliam told the outlet. “And she said, ‘Yes, yes, yes!’ And on and on and on.”
“The music is playing — and I’m getting ready to walk down the aisle — and he grabbed my hand so tight,” Fox said. “And it was a really good feeling…Yeah, it still is. Like a wound had been healed in my heart.”
On her wedding day, Fox not only acquired a husband, Victor, but also a new family member in Pulliam, who served as a supportive paternal figure.
This heartwarming tale immediately brings to mind another unforgettable occasion where the kindness of strangers transformed a couple’s special day into something truly extraordinary.
In April, Sumiriya Morton had a rare opportunity to become a witness at a courthouse wedding for a couple she had never met.
Shortly afterward, Morton shared on TikTok the video of the event she captured, stating, “good deed for the day, I guess.”

She and her sister were waiting for her sibling’s case to be heard at the courthouse when it all occurred.
A man in a groom’s suit came up to the 25-year-old as she was leaving the room to go to the restroom. He said that he needed two witnesses for his wedding and asked if she would be one of them. Morton agreed right away. She went so far as to offer to bring her sister and her girlfriend to join them.
Morton, her sister, and her girlfriend then followed the bride and groom into the courtroom to witness the vows being exchanged.
