Cardi B and Beyoncé were set to release a collaboration in 2017 – before it was leaked

Cardi B and Beyoncé nearly worked together in 2017 on a single but it was scrapped when news of the collab leaked online, says the track’s producer.

Their secret project was first seen online in October 2017 when “Bodak Yellow” sound mixer Michael Ashby shared a picture of his computer screen on his Instagram Story revealing a file called ‘Cardi B ft Beyonce demo.’

Ashby later apologized for the leak even though Cardi said he had never met him and also denied working with superstar Beyoncé.

But in an interview with Real Lyfe Productions, producer J White Did It said the collab, titled Wet, was actually canceled after it was made public by Ashby.

“Three years ago I had Beyonce play with Cardi and that kinda went sour because it went viral that they was doing a song together and that cut out.

“I was just as giddy as everybody else. I was sitting there just waiting, looking on the internet, then it leaked,” said J White Did It, who co-produced Cardi’s breakthrough hit “Bodak Yellow.”

Cardi and Beyoncé met for the first time at the Made in America Festival in 2017, where they snapped a photo together and fans were hoping that the two could team up on a track.

Producer J White Did It has since collaborated with Beyoncé on Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Savage’ remix, which snagged a spot at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
