Acclaimed actor Damson Idris is now an official Global Brand Ambassador for F1, following the launch of the ‘All To Drive For’ campaign, in which he was featured. This role comes after his co-starring performance with Brad Pitt in F1 The Movie, which broke box office records for a sports film, earning over $630 million.
The 34-year-old’s cultural influence and storytelling ability are merging with F1’s global reach through this collaboration. The aim is to create significant moments both on and off the race track, connecting international entertainment with the world of motorsport, according to Formula 1.
Idris, who starred as Joshua Pearce, a rising driver for a fictional team, established his strong connection with the film. The project received full support from F1 and was filmed during live Grands Prix, allowing Idris to fully integrate with the F1 teams, drivers, and race operations. This dramatically and completely transformed him from a well-known Hollywood actor into an authentic, recognized personality within the Formula 1 community.

Idris is now a passionate advocate for Formula 1, following extensive on-screen training for his role.
Idris said in a statement: “I’ve always been drawn to spaces where culture, performance, and precision meet, and Formula 1 sits right at the center of that.
“I had an enormous amount of respect for it before making the film, but getting closer to it gave me a real understanding of the innovation, the heart, and the intensity behind everything, and the elite level the drivers operate at.
“I’m genuinely excited to step into this role as a Global Ambassador. Being part of this world now means a lot to me, and I’m proud to represent something that inspires and connects people all over the world.”
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of F1, also noted, “I’m delighted to welcome Damson Idris officially to the Formula 1 family. Following his starring role in F1 The Movie, which made history at the box office and helped bring our sport to new audiences, he is joining us as an official Global Brand Ambassador.
“In Formula 1, we are all about authenticity and Damson is passionate about the sport and shares our vision to grow it, so it’s fantastic that we’ll continue to work with him. In addition to his role as Formula 1’s global brand ambassador, Idris has ventured into design with the luxury jewelry house Didris, according to Variety.
