Mario Gordon followed Dutch’s non-stop bark outside his home and made a discovery that has now driven the police to search for a killer.
Not far from his door, he soon saw why his dog was barking. Gordon heard a woman crying for help, blood pouring from gunshot wounds to her head and chest.
“The only thing she kept saying was, ‘Help me, help me and help me.’ She was like, ‘I’ve been shot, I’ve been shot.’ I was like, ‘Oh Lord,'” Gordon told WFAA.
He quickly called 911 and immediately started rendering aid to the wounded woman. He stayed with her until the ambulance arrived.
Gordon, who recently moved in from Mississippi, described the Dallas Woodland Canyon neighborhood as normally nice and quiet.
Fortunately, the woman Gordon helped is expected to survive. The police said the discovery led them to a gruesome scene at a nearby home. Neighbors told the Dallas police officers on the scene that they heard gunshots from a house around 11 a.m. Saturday.
When officers went to the house to check on the residents, they found two people tied up, one of whom police identified as 30-year-old Deleon Williams, dead from a gunshot wound. The other, a man, was yelling for help, according to the police. The woman who asked Gordon for help was from that house but she was able to walk away from the scene to seek help, the police said.
No arrests have yet been announced in the incident, and a motive remains under investigation.
