Erica Campbell’s daughter, Zaya Campbell, was recently featured in a Nationwide Insurance Company advertisement.
The insurance company is collaborating with Zaya, according to WBLS, to challenge high school students to create their own version of the popular jingle after she did the same years ago.
In a TikTok post with Zaya inviting participants, the company wrote in the caption, “Calling all high school teachers, school music groups, and bands: Zaya Campbell, the voice behind the viral Nationwide Jingle, is passing the mic! Share your version of the Nationwide jingle using #NationwideChallengeContest and tag @Nationwide for a chance to win $5,000 for your school’s music program!”
When Zaya was five years old, she performed a rendition of the company’s slogan, “Nationwide is on your side.” Though her initial video has aged slightly, it continues to make waves on social media. TikTok users liked her version since she put her spin on an already popular phrase.
Nationwide adapted her lyrics into their Instagram and TikTok bios when they saw her video. In a statement, Nationwide’s Chief Marketing Officer, Ramon Jones, expressed the company’s enthusiasm about its collaboration with Zaya.
He also noted the company’s ties to education, emphasizing that their latest competition intends to help students with financial needs.
“Nationwide, like thousands of others, was blown away by Zaya’s take on our iconic jingle,” Jones said.
“Through programs like Prom Promise, the Golden Owl Award, and many others, Nationwide has helped teachers provide an extraordinary education for students of all ages and, in turn, created awareness about insurance, financial services and planning for retirement once their time in the classroom is over. The Nationwide Jingle Challenge is the latest such program.”
The contest winners will be awarded $5,000 for their high school music program.
