During a recent appearance on The Morning Hustle, rapper Wale reiterated Sean “Diddy” Combs never dangled him over a balcony because of an incident involving the embattled music executive’s ex-girlfriend Cassie.
Wale is once again shutting down that rumor and alleged physical altercation amid Combs’ sex trafficking trial which commenced on Monday with opening statements.
“I never got in an altercation with that man,” Wale, 40, stated, per HotNewHipHop. “I never been in an altercation with nobody in the industry. I’ve had close calls, but not him. It was made up by somebody who’s just trolling.”
The Lotus Flower Bomb rapper also called the rumor “preposterous.” As previously stated, this is not the first time Wale, whose real name is Olubowale Victor Akintimehin, has shut down that rumor.
His representatives in a 2023 statement to TMZ said the rapper had “never met Cassie or the author and was never involved in any type of altercation.” The statement added: “He wishes peace for everyone involved in the settlement.”
Wale in a post on X also said the circulation of that rumor stemmed from “the slow demise of authentic journalism.”
As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, Combs, 55, was arrested by federal agents on September 16 and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs, who entered a not-guilty plea, is being held without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. The Bad Boy Records founder is additionally facing multiple sexual assault lawsuits.
Combs is accused of orchestrating “Freak-Offs,” described as elaborate, produced sex performances that he directed, recorded, and sometimes participated in.
Combs’ legal woes started after CNN shared a video of him assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016. The rapper and music executive had initially denied allegations of rape and abuse from Cassie. But he later issued an apology on social media after the circulation of the video.
“During this trial you are going to hear about 20 years of the defendant’s crimes. But he didn’t do it alone. He had an inner circle of bodyguards and high-ranking employees who helped him commit crimes and helped him cover them up,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson said, per The New York Times.
The 55-year-old, who has maintained his innocence, could be sentenced to life in prison if found guilty of the charges.
Wale calls it “preposterous” when asked if it’s true that Diddy dangled him over a balcony for working with Cassie.
