Authorities in Georgia have brought charges against four ex-Fulton County jail workers who allegedly supplied inmates with contraband items including cell phones and cigarettes. Two of the accused suspects are also facing sexual offense charges.
Per FOX 5 Atlanta, the four suspects were identified as 34-year-old LaQuna Ballard, 26-year-old Regina Harris, 24-year-old Anizya Silas, and 26-year-old Breaisha Tate. Their arrests in connection with the crimes were announced by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. The four suspects were said to be contract workers who were stationed in the same jail area.
Besides the contraband charges, authorities also said Ballard allegedly sent an inmate explicit photos and videos while Tate and an inmate allegedly engaged in sexual activity. Four inmates linked to the crimes have also been charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and possession of prohibited items.
“These women unfortunately chose to be on the wrong side of the law by fraternizing with residents. They will now have to face the consequences for the crimes they are accused of committing,” Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat said in a statement.
In January, Face2Face Africa reported that a Long Island jury had indicted a former jail nurse who allegedly had a secret relationship with an inmate and arranged to get him a ceramic knife while he was being held at the Nassau County Correctional Center.
Per WABC, Yasmin Talbot’s position at the Nassau County Correctional Center was said to be the second highest. The inmate Talbot is accused of having a secret relationship with was identified as Christopher Wright. Talbot tendered her resignation in September after she was suspended in August. That was after an investigation was launched. She, however, later got a job at a nursing home before she was later arrested.
